London Trail 28 MARCH - 31 MAY
Bristol Trail 6 JULY - 31 AUGUST
In 2015, Shaun the Sheep starred in Shaun in the City, two spectac-ewe-lar charity arts trails across Bristol and London, organised by Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Foundation.
120 giant Shaun the Sheep sculptures, by artists and household names from the worlds of film, art, animation and fashion, grazed green spaces and iconic locations in both cities during spring and summer.
On Thursday 8th October at The Mall Cribbs Causeway in Bristol, all 120 Shaun in the City sculptures went under the hammer in an auction hosted by acclaimed Sotheby’s auctioneer Tim Wonnacott, in a unique opportunity to take home a wonderful work of art and a piece of Bristol's and Britain's cultural history, raising a fantastic £1,087,900 for The Grand Appeal and Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Charity to support sick children across the UK.
All proceeds from our Bristol sculptures benefitted The Grand Appeal, which funds life-saving care, pioneering medical equipment, facilities, and comforts for patients at Bristol Children’s Hospital. Proceeds from the London sculptures benefitted Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Charity, which supports children’s hospitals and hospices throughout the UK.
Our first flock of 50 Shauns spent 28th March to 31st May in the capital, with a second entirely ewe-nique flock grazing Bristol’s pastures from 6th July to 31st August and in September, our Shaun sculptures were united for two special Exhibitions. Our first Great Sheep Round Up took place in in Bristol from 12th to 20th September, with all 120 sculptures on display together, and another Exhibition of all 120 sculptures in Covent Garden from 24th to 27th September, with hundreds of thousands of visitors eager for a final look at our spectac-ewe-lar flock before they move on to pastures new.
We are so thankful to our eager Shaun hunters for supporting our charity this year by downloading our Sheep Spotter app to help with their Shaun trail, fundraising on sponsored Shaun hunts, visiting our Exhibitions and snapping up our special Shaun in the City merchandise.
Shaun fans can still visit our shop at The Mall at Cribbs Causeway or buy online, for special commemorative goodies to treasure the trail and support our charity – from snapping up your favourite design as a miniature figurine, to our range of homeware and clothing. All proceeds from sales of Shaun in the City merchandise support sick children in hospitals across the UK.
Shaun in the City is brought to you by the team that created the award-winning Gromit Unleashed project.
